Since her primary school days, Salwa began to draw and paint, but was discouraged by those around her. Today, Salwa has exhibited her work in and around Khartoum and continues to use her paintings as an outlet to express her innermost feelings. After many years of not being able to practice her talent, she now finds herself and her comfort in her paintings. To her, painting has renewed her sense of hope in her life.
